Our society is inundated with data: it is all around us everywhere you look. The news, businesses, and the government all use data to make critical decisions, but how do you know the data is reliable? Are the statistics produced being accurately represented? It has been said that “statistical thinking will one day be as necessary for efficient citizenship as the ability to read and write” and certainly we can see that coming to fruition. This Intro to Statistics class will help students to think critically to discern truth from data.
Mrs. Ball has teaching experience in public schools, homeschool, co-ops, and through tutoring. As a homeschooler, she has more than 25 years experience teaching all levels of Saxon Math to her children and to many others through co-ops and tutoring. She considers mathematics as great puzzles to be solved.
In 1992, she earned a bachelor of arts in mathematics from Texas Lutheran University. Mrs. Ball has been married since 1989 and has eight children. After traveling the world with her now retired military husband (most recently in Japan), Mrs. Ball now resides in Texas with her husband and her youngest two children. Aside from enjoying math puzzles and games, her favorite things to do are Bible studies, reading, and sewing. She is looking forward to meeting , working with, and encouraging FPA students and families in their endeavors.
