English I

A comprehensive study of the English language requires knowledge of its structure and application. This class includes a review of standard English usage, mechanics, the eight parts of speech, and the five basic sentence patterns, as well as new material that reinforces the student’s understanding of the English language. Thus prepared, students use the writing process to complete assignments that emphasize critical thinking and literary analysis as they survey classics of world literature.
