Music Theory & Appreciation II

Music Theory and Appreciation II will continue the studies introduced in Music Theory and Appreciation I, taking the basic fundamentals of music theory and moving into a more detailed study of intervals and triads.  Students will begin analyzing classical works using Roman Numeral Analysis, learning to identify chords, inversions and non-harmonic tones.  As they increase their knowledge of music theory, they will continue with deeper studies in music history, spending time on style analysis of the iconic works of the great classical composers from the Baroque through the modern era. Students will be required to attend two (2) live, professional classical concerts during the school year. These may include symphonies, string quartets or other chamber ensembles, classical vocal recitals, choral concerts or operas - but all MUST be at the professional level. Musicals will not count towards this requirement. Live broadcasts of the MET Opera performances will count if they are viewed in a movie theatre.

Price: $500/class

    SECTION 1 : TT 1:00PM - 1:50PM CT
