Algebra & Geometry I (4-Day)
Algebra & Geometry II (2-Day)
Algebra & Geometry II (4-Day)

Mrs. Carmen Leiva

I was born and raised in El Salvador, and I came to the United States when I was a teenager in high school. I can speak, read, and write in Spanish fluently. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from California State University Dominguez Hills and a master’s degree in STEAM Education from the University of San Diego. I have always loved numbers, and my dream was to become an auditor. However, after taking geometry in high school, I knew I wanted to become a math teacher. I had a fantastic geometry teacher who inspired me. I believe that all students can achieve proficiency in mathematics given the appropriate tools and guidance. Exploring the world of mathematics strengthens critical thinking and conceptual understanding of events and sets a foundation for justifying and defending ideas with facts and logic.

It was also in high school that I met my husband, whom I married in 2016. We welcomed our first baby girl in October 2020. I praise God for allowing me to serve him by teaching and educating the next generation of warriors who will lead the world and lift Jesus’ name on high. In addition to teaching, I love to cook and bake. I spend my free time reading and watching cooking shows and recipes from all over the world. I love to travel and explore different cultures and their cuisine.
